What is a repeat prescription?
If your doctor thinks it appropriate you may obtain medicines on a repeat prescription without having to be seen. They are issued at the doctors' discretion and are normally for patients on long term treatment.
Medication Reviews |
You can request a medication review online via Klinik. This may be carried out by our Pharmacist, a Nurse Prescriber or GP. |
You will be asked to attend a review if your condition needs checking. Your medication also needs reviewing to ensure it is still having the desired effect and no changes to dose or type of medication are required.
Medication will NOT automatically be issued where 'Medication Reviews' are out of date. Please check the date on your prescription to ensure supplies of your medication are not delayed.
How to order a repeat prescription?
We regret we do not take prescription requests over the phone. Please remember to only order the medicines you need.
We aim to process your prescription within 2 working days, this means you can usually collect your prescriptions from your
chosen pharmacy 3 to 5 days after you have ordered it. (excluding weekends and bank holidays)
Can my Prescription be sent electronically to a pharmacy of my choice?
Yes, tell us which pharmacy you would like to use or request directly from the pharmacy. In certain circumstances this may not be possible, this is usually due to the type of medication you may be taking
What happens if you are going abroad?
- If you are going abroad for 3 months or less we will give you a one off supply of up to 3 x 28 day supply to cover this period
- If you spend 6 months abroad in any 12 month period we will give you 1 x 28 day supply. This is enough to last you until you can make arrangements to get further supplies at your destination by, registering with a doctor in the country you are visiting or buying the medication from a pharmacy while you are away.
- If you are out of the country for more than 6 months under current NHS guidelines we are obliged to de-register you from our list.

Prescribing over the counter medication
Did you know the NHS has been spending millions a year on prescriptions for medicines that can be bought over the counter from pharmacies or supermarkets. After national consultation, NHS England have implemented national guidance and are asking GPs, nurses and pharmacists not to routinely prescribe medicines for a range of minor health concerns. For the majority of patients nothing will change and the GP decision will be on a case by case basis.
Please help the NHS use its resources sensibly. Rather than going to your GP, why not visit your pharmacy first, who can offer help and advice to manage minor health concerns.
